At Introductory level, our aim is to teach you how to paddle your own canoe. Initially, we will spend some time fitting you into the kayak that is right for you and discussing the basic safety rules. Then it’s onto the water where we will teach you a whole range of paddling strokes which will help you to build your confidence slowly. You will learn how to:
At Improver level, we build on what you have learned at Introductory level.
We will significantly add to your repertoire of strokes which will improve your boat handling skills in a variety of sea conditions. Again, we will work on improving your water confidence and stability in the kayak by concentrating on the following:
These paddles are designed for kayakers who have ideally completed one or two improver days and are seeking further adventure and exposure whilst at the same time enjoying the unique natural environment of the North Dublin coast. As an open crossing between Rush and Lambay is involved, these trips will be weather dependent. If the weather is not suitable, we will divert to Howth and Ireland's Eye.
The Puffin breeding season on the Fingal coastline is relatively short. The birds arrive in late April and often depart as early as the first week in July. The best time to experience the atmosphere at their breeding colonies is late evening when the air comes alive with the sound of purring, wheeling, whizzing and screeching seabirds. Lambay Island is one of Ireland's most important seabird breeding colonies and has approx 250 pairs of breeding Puffins, 100,000 pairs of Guillemot and numerous other species including Gulls, Gannets, Fulmars, Kittiwakes, Razorbills, Cormorant and Shags. The sheer diversity, noise and clamour of the birdlife is amazing and all so accessible to Dublin city centre.
Come with us and enjoy one of Fingal's wildlife spectaculars by sea kayak.
|Meeting Point||Rush Pier, 7pm.|

Enjoy a relaxing evening off the coast of Howth. Experience the thrill of fishing from your kayak and later cooking your food in the outdoors. We will aspire to reach Ireland's Eye but as usual weather conditions will determine where we land.
These trips are suitable only for those with previous kayaking experience. However, we will take beginners in double kayaks if they have a competent partner. If you wish to avail of this option, please book a double kayak.
To book a Double Kayak, only one person needs to fill out the booking form and we will reserve a double kayak with space for 2 people. However, please make sure that your kayak partner has a good level of physical fitness, and that he/she is aware of our safety policy. If her/his emergency contact details differ from your own, please notify us in advance of the course. Feel free to contact us for more details on Double Kayaks.
